    Montpellier Wine Estate Restaurant

    Montpellier Wine Estate is one of Tulbagh’s historic wine farms, established in 1714 and set among vineyards beneath the surrounding Obiqua, Winterhoek and Witzenberg mountains. With its Cape Dutch homestead, hillside chapel and expansive grounds, the estate combines wine, food, accommodation and heritage in one memorable Tulbagh destination.

    Visitors can enjoy tastings of Montpellier’s award-winning wines and MCCs, with cheese platters available during the week and freshly prepared pizzas from Friday to Sunday. The relaxed tasting experience and mountain setting make Montpellier an easy place to spend a leisurely afternoon in the valley.

    Montpellier also offers accommodation and is an established wedding and events destination, with a range of indoor and outdoor venues including the historic chapel, gardens and vineyard spaces. The estate can host events of up to around 150 guests, with accommodation available for up to 80 overnight guests.

Established in 1996, the estate has grown into a well-rounded Tulbagh destination for wine lovers, weekend visitors, families and special occasions.

    Visitors can enjoy tastings of Manley’s wines at the private cellar, while The Taste restaurant serves locally inspired cuisine with a menu that changes regularly. The estate’s countryside setting and vineyards make it an easy place to settle in for a tasting, meal or leisurely afternoon.

    Accommodation includes seven spacious B&B rooms as well as two family cottages with self-catering facilities. Guests have access to WiFi, air-conditioning, fireplaces in many rooms, a swimming pool, braai facilities and generous garden spaces.

    Manley is also an established wedding and function venue, with a consecrated chapel, indoor and outdoor event spaces and facilities for weddings and private celebrations of up to 120 guests.

    Duikersdrift olive & wine farm

    Duikersdrift Olive & Wine Farm is a peaceful country escape in the Tulbagh Valley, set among vineyards, olive groves and sweeping mountain scenery. This working wine and olive farm offers a relaxed Winelands stay where good wine, open spaces and an unhurried pace are all part of the experience.

    Accommodation consists of four stylish self-catering farm cottages designed for couples and families. Each cottage includes a private wood-fired hot tub, fireplace, air-conditioning, WiFi, kitchenette and private patio with braai facilities, while guests also have access to the shared swimming pool.

    Duikersdrift produces small-batch wines and extra virgin olive oil, with private self-paced wine tastings available to cottage guests. Visitors staying on the farm can also explore the vineyards and olive groves on foot or by bicycle, meet the resident donkeys, enjoy catch-and-release fishing, join the Saturday Parkrun or simply settle in beside the pool and take in the mountain views.

    Drie Fonteine is a 180-hectare mountain wine farm in the Tulbagh Valley, set against the slopes of the Witzenberg mountains among vineyards, fynbos and wide-open countryside. Home to De Kleine Wijn, the farm brings together boutique wine, stylish accommodation and outdoor experiences in a peaceful setting made for slowing down.

    Accommodation includes four spacious self-catering farm stays, ranging from larger farmhouses suited to families and groups to private two-bedroom cottages. The units combine contemporary comfort with generous living spaces, en-suite bedrooms, indoor and outdoor braai areas, air-conditioning and private stoeps overlooking the surrounding valley and mountains.

    Visitors can book wine tastings of Drie Fonteine’s current releases, explore three marked hiking routes of around 5–7 km, enjoy birdwatching and swim in natural mountain-fed dams.     Visitors can taste wines from Opstal’s Heritage, Estate and Sixpence ranges before settling in for breakfast or lunch at the estate restaurant, where seasonal menus focus on fresh local ingredients and relaxed farm hospitality. The restaurant is open daily and enjoys sweeping views across the vineyards and mountains.

    Opstal Stay offers private self-catering units with WiFi, fireplaces, braai facilities and individual hot tubs, while the farm also offers walking, vineyard experiences and a tractor-and-picnic experience by arrangement.
